Splendid! It is not for no reason that the high society with their huge yachts frequent this sailing area in Italy. Many regattas take place here like the Swan Cup and the Sardegna Cup.
Often Olbia is the starting and destination port, due to the great flight and ferry connections.
The other destinations of the day are often decided on sporadically. You will sail past so many wonderful bays that you will hardly be able to decide. Often the colour of the water will decide on the place for the night - who would want to miss the morning dive into the turquoise water. Even sailing there for months would not enable one to discover all the anchorages. That isItaly: Sheer rock formations, beautiful beaches - Italy at its' best!
Possibilities for shore excursions in Italy are ample. "The Graves of the Giants", the "Nurag-Towers", Golfo di Arzachena are all part of Sardinias' history, as well as Alghero, the catalan city. The red rocks of Arbatax in the evening sun offer a splendid view from the port.
Around the island there is a variety of winds. On the northern and western coast western winds are predominant, and one cannot outrule a strong Mistral from the northwest. The southern coast on the other hand is predominated by the warm, humid Sirocco. Except in summer.
